We have always had a passion for classic 20th century interior design and furniture, which we have been able to express in the accommodation at Sound of Harris.
The interior features classic pieces from a range of British brands and designers – R.W. Toothill, Elliots of Newbury and Guy Rogers – which we have sympathetically restored and re-upolstered – in addition to favourites such as Ercol and G-plan (E. Gomme) and Uniflex.
The Harris Tweed industry is currently undergoing a welcome renaissance, with a demand for the distinctive, durable and sustainable cloth, rapidly approaching that of its heyday in the 1950s and 1960s – a natural partner for the furniture design of this period.
We are extremely privileged to be able to feature a range of bespoke Tweeds woven by Donald John MacKay of Luskentyre. These include a range of colourways in a distinctive hopsack weave.
