Welcome to Sound of Harris – distinctive self-catering accommodation in the Outer Hebrides.
Completed in autumn 2014, we joined the growing range of high quality self-catering accommodation available in the Isle of Harris.
Sound of Harris is situated in Borrisdale township, close to the southern tip the island at Renish Point, approximately 3 miles form the port of Leverburgh.
The construction has been inspired by the classic “Department” croft house of the early twentieth century – rendered masonry gables, cast concrete skews, timber infill and framing and a sheeted roof – but updated to embrace sound principles of sustainable construction and renewable energy technologies, combined with the best of classic British mid-century interior design and, naturally, Luskentyre Harris Tweed.
The development was recognised in the 2016 Outer Hebrides Design Awards (Best New Build – Self-Design).
In addition to self-catering accommodation, the site is home to our fledgling Tweed weaving business and pop-up shop – Borrisdale Tweed.
